Our culture is being universalized and is practiced globally to the point these fusions are occurring in various parts of the world. (We are the blueprint)
Many our building/infusing their cultural identities off of ours and are adopting our cultural language, mannerism, identity, traditions, etc as their own under their own context.
In this process they are stretching our culture to include theirs
This is nothing new
The universalization you see is the result of this Black Atlantic Framework.
The oddest part which is unusual of this is while are culture is being globally appropriated, they are attempting to generalize it in such a way that we are not the center/point of origin for our cultural attributes
Rapping? West African Griots Dancing? West African dances Style? Gestures? Language? Everything
They are attempting to connect it back to Africa and by doing so everyone can claim these things
Even Soul Food and the proverbial “cook-out”
An example:
What they do is say Black people make soul food. Soul food is food from the “soul” and Black means African.
They then include themselves in that category. They start calling their food “soul food” (in addition to whatever other label they have) and say they have always been making “Soul Food” in their “Black Culture” since Black American culture isn’t Black Culture but a black culture and that your Soul Food is a derivative of theirs and thus this practice tradition or culture started with them and not you since you are not 100% African (ie Black)
A real example is Rap.
They are attempting to say Jamaicans invented rap because its within the Black Atlantic Framework for the UK (Who are a blend of people from all over Africa and the Caribbean)
They are the diaspora. The diasporan identity culture etc all is an emulation of Black America. They don’t like this so they universalize our culture instead by trying to reframe or redefine it.
It’s kinda crazy. Damn near all roads leads to Black America.
We didn’t have an ethnic name that was inclusive so they will always attempt to universalize it. The solution to this is Dewey’s Dilemma. They are using category error to deceive you in order to include themselves in your culture
There is no universal Black Culture magically practiced by all black people globally. Esp when groups in the same country can recognize they are different. That global black culture is really Black American culture.
Black is the exploit they use as they’ve collapsed/folded multiple frameworks under this label
We are different people. Different cultures. Different societies.
